I bought Call of duty 4 for my desktop (it's pretty old) and it lags a lot even on low settings, so I was going to buy a laptop and i was wondering if this laptop would be able to play Call of Duty 4 on medium - high detail.

I think you'll struggle to play on medium - high, i imagine performance might not be that difference to your desktop, it'll certainly be playable but i can't see you having a massive performance boost.
You'll always get more for your money buying a desktop, but if that is out of the question you might want to take a look at this site - Notebookcheck: Computer Games on Laptop Graphic Cards it might be of some help
