So I'm thinking about throwing together a little competition to get things going around here. I'm looking for help coming up with ideas though... i don't want to encourage spam.

I was thinking of having a referral competition - the more users that you get to register, the more points you get, the more points you get the better prize you win.

I guess a copy of MW2 would make a good prize.
I'm thinking about throwing in as well.

Any thoughts?

A referral contest is always good to increase traffic here. But you need to monitor who is referring who. Many people will just refer themselves and meet the minimum post requirement.

A tournament on one of your servers is also another option but limits those arn't very good at the game.

Yeah, we'd definitely be keeping a close eye on proceedings. If someone registers with 5 accounts all with the same IP address, or 5 accounts all with proxies then they will be disqualified.

I want to offer prizes that are good, and a bit different - but aren't really expensive. So hopefully people will want to win a limited edition poster for example, but it isn't going to be anything of great value. Hopefully that way everyone will play fair, and still get some nice free stuff

We're busy working on a tournament system, and that's definitely something that i intend to happen in the next few months, but that excludes all the console players.
Tournaments are going to play a big role in the future for those who want them to, but i want our first competition to be a bit of light hearted fun that anyone can take part in
