There is a difference. The red-dot is exactly as the title says, a red-dot.

But the holographic is a red-dot with a redicule (mini). I prefer the Holographic, and with use I'm sure you'll agree with me. Trust me, there's a diff.

Both are useless during and EMP just to throw that out there.

There's nothing noticable between them, but the red dot blocks more out, so I use that.

I use red dot for better view and I have also noticed sway is a little faster.

It boils down to preference, really. I prefer the holographic as it blocks less of what the dot is on (actual dot in center of holo is smaller) for longer range shooting. IMHO, the holographic is better for precision shooting with an AR, while the red dot is more suited for closer quarters stuff, and is my choice for SMGs.

I came across an interesting comparison video on YouTube the other day, it claims that the M16 gains accuracy when using the Holographic sight over the Red Dot.

Great find, Jason. There is a bit at the end there about the difference between FAMAS and M16, another discussion on this board...
