Aim assist makes this game unplayable for PC players

Watching the repays of players killing me in Warzone, console players have no recoil in the weapons they are using. From crouched, I ambushed a runner and put several rounds into him and he just turns and fires with every shot hitting me and killing my avatar. This has happened many times. The aim assist is so strong that console players barely have to aim, and recoil I find in all weapons is pretty much non existent in console aiming. I can see that developers are consolers. How about no cross platform play so that pc amers get a chance. Also this bunnyhopping and siding garbage really screws up the game and add to that, the garbage physics with weapons and ammo, ie. a 7.62 machine gun round has almost double the energy of a any other round, especially.45 and 9mm., but in Warzone, its the number of hits rather than the quality and power of the weapon itself. In reality, a 7.62 round would at the very least knock you over, yet a player can be hit 4 or 5 times and kill an adversary without even having to aim properly.

This game is designed for console gamers and completely shuts out fair play on PC.

This is something I have wondered about for a long time. How can one make the decision to let some players use a bloody AUTO-AIM and others not. This is literally like granting some a somewhat weakish aimbot and others not.

Completely ridiculous.

Yea Huntnwabits is correct here. OP this isn't an aim-assist issue - all aim-assist does is slow down your crosshair when you're near the target. You still have to aim with it, it just decreases sensitivity when you're near/on target to make it "easier" to stay on target. But it definitely isn't auto-aim by any means.

The issue here is the very large population of cheaters using things like a Cronus which can be configured to delete most/all of recoil. Anybody who pretends console players aren't cheating is burying their head in the sand.

Yes there are aimbots being used, but the mods made to update the aim assist dont just slow down, they track as the gunner moves, and to top it off, if you poke your head about cover, pretty much locks onto your head. I watched a few of the pros testing and demonstrating this. In one video, the guy shot 3 guys headshots with about 6 rounds as they emerged from cover behind a low wall. You could see the hitbox move from head to head as the gunner pressed the trigger..Its just crap

Yes, those might exist. But the most common thing you'll run into are no-recoil hacks from using a Cronus. Those are way more common.

More Warzone aimassist kills. No recoil, every shot a hit on fast moving targets and vehicles at long range. Forget me buying any other COD package. A shame really as PC players like me have played this series since the very beginning. Shows the lack of concern ver cross platform, unless it benefits Xbox players of course. Shitty physics with ballistics and no penalty for snipers who dont even have to have the crosshair on the target s they make a kill. I did it myself in warmup.. Its pathetic and all these peple actually think they are good players..

This is not due to aim-assist, this would be a no-recoil hack from something like a Cronus Zen. Aim-assist does not affect recoil, all it does is slow your sensitivity when on/near the target to make aiming a little easier for people using tiny joysticks instead of a mouse which has a huge range of motion.

...wat? Unless you're complaining about "whip sniping", which would just be complaining about a learned skill, I have no idea what you're talking about. Sniping absolutely takes skill in this game.

So this topic is why I registered here. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy this game, but also find it completely ridiculous that so many of the console players are using some type of handicap aid to "play better". It's so blatantly obvious when reviewing their kill cam and you see the crosshairs cyclic pattern of being slightly off target, snapping to the target, and then snapping back off target as soon as said target is dead.

Here is the question to ask. If Aim Assist is no big deal (as some people would proclaim), then just remove it...I mean if that is indeed true, then there should be no use for it. It obviously does something or it would not be there as an option for the controller newbs, and an option for some people to exploit.

Bottom line, this is all about money. There are probably a good 10-1 console players over PC players these days, and a company is not going to jeopardize their main client base over a handful of PC players who are naturally better because of the hardware they are using. A competent PC player that plays with a mouse is going to destroy a controller player almost every time. Right now though the way it stands, you really have to be a "great" PC (mouse) player to be competitive with this augmented controller aiming BS.

I'm sure I am not alone when saying that it is more than irritating to be killed by someone constantly when you know its not actually their level of skill that is killing you.

You literally just described why aim assist exists, and how it levels the playing field in back-to-back sentences. PC players, of which I am one, have an innate advantage over console players because of the hardware inputs they use (mouse vs tiny thumbstick). This advantage is large, and without any kind of assistance PC players would obliterate console players en masse. Aim assist exists in this game to level the playing field, not to give console players an advantage. It is not overpowered, nor does it need to be removed because it isn't overpowered (not even sure what point you were making here).

That said, aim assist existed before crossplay was a thing.....because aiming with thumbsticks is effing hard. Kids don't want to play fantasy games where they can't hit anything because of inadequate controller inputs.

I'm sure I am not alone when saying that it is more than irritating to be killed by someone constantly when you know its not actually their level of skill that is killing you.

You seem to believe you deserve to win when facing console players because they shouldn't be able to aim as well as you with your mouse. You are more skilled, so you deserve to win. Remove aim assist, make them all bad because nobody can aim with a thumbstick, and you win every gun fight. Whatever helps you sleep at night bub.

So clever you think you are. Ouch, I just got lectured by a child on the Internet. Heh.

So clever one, years ago perhaps before you were born, I was playing Quake on the PC with a controller. Yes, they were around before your holy PlayStation even had an idea of what a FPS game was. The same problem however even existed back then as I think Quake was the first game to incorporate +mlook. I started to get hammered by players who had learned to use their mouse in the game.

Solution to the problem was not for Id Software to create a handicap though, the solution was for "me" to learn how to use a mouse if I wanted to be competitive. Which I did.

Now saying this, both PlayStation and Xbox consoles are able to use a keyboard and mouse. The problem is, you guys would rather bitch about the PC players that are dominating you instead of learning how to use a better tool(s). Hence a handicap created just for controller players to feel better about themselves. I mean who was losing sleep over the issue in reality? Obviously you guys since something was incorporated into the game that had NEVER been there in ANY previous releases.

Please, take your petty smugness and put it to better use.

That’s scary, I mean I still prefer keyboard and mouse (can’t handle well in warzone with controller), but I heard the assist is better on console then pc.

Aim assist only has to do with whether you're using a controller or not. If you use a controller on a PC, you get the same aim assist a console user would have, plus the benefits of increased FPS and FOV that PC users get. But I don't know who in their right mind would willingly downgrade from a mouse to a controller - aim assist is not worth losing the precision of a mouse.

Oops? I'm at least as old as you are, if not older. At the time you were using a controller to play Quake, I was also playing Quake, Unreal, and CS when they released in the mid-to-late 90s. Except I was playing with a mouse instead of a controller.

Yes, they were around before your holy PlayStation even had an idea of what a FPS game was.

Never had a PlayStation. Did have an N64 though. Not sure how this is relevant to anything I played on PC though.

The same problem however even existed back then as I think Quake was the first game to incorporate +mlook. I started to get hammered by players who had learned to use their mouse in the game.

So again you admit that using a mouse gives a distinct advantage unrelated to player skill - the hardware itself is the limiting factor.

Solution to the problem was not for Id Software to create a handicap though, the solution was for "me" to learn how to use a mouse if I wanted to be competitive. Which I did.

Yes, learning to use a mouse to play a PC game against other mouse-wielding PC gamers makes sense.

Now saying this, both PlayStation and Xbox consoles are able to use a keyboard and mouse.

No. Console users should not be required to purchase additional hardware to compete with PC users. This is a console game first, and the console playerbase dwarfs that of PC users, so PC users are going to have to step down to play with consoler users. They aren't conforming to PC standards, you are conforming to their console standards. I know as an elitist this is a difficult concept for you to grasp.

The problem is, you guys would rather bitch about the PC players that are dominating you instead of learning how to use a better tool(s).

See, how I can tell you didn't actually read my post when you got "lectured". Literally the 2nd sentence of my post:

Hence a handicap created just for controller players to feel better about themselves.

Also mentioned in my previous post - you should've finished reading before replying.

You most likely? You certainly seem pretty mad right about aim-assist in general.

Obviously you guys since something was incorporated into the game that had NEVER been there in ANY previous releases.

Once again, I play on PC AND aim-assist has absolutely been around before Modern Warfare.

Your main objection still seems to be that you think you are more skilled than console users, so it aggravates you when they kill you and it's entirely aim assist that is letting them do so. As if, you wouldn't die to those console plebs if aim assist was removed. Which it should be, in your opinion, so you could rightfully dominate all those lesser-skilled plebs. Again, whatever helps you sleep at night.

He bud, please stop letting your ego control your replies. The digs and arrogant condescension grows weary.

It's clear we have differing opinions on this. Bottom line, Aim Assist, as well as other forms of player aids are not a measure of player skill, but of augmented skill. Whether you wish to be a voice for the controller crowd or not. I for one would not be comfortable, and probably embarrassed knowing that something else other than my own skill is doing the task at hand.

Then try reading my entire post before replying, and it wouldn't be necessary.

If it's a level playing field, sure, then only player skill would matter and any game mechanics meant to help "bad" players play "better", then I'd agree with you. But that's not what's happening with aim assist. When the task one player is doing is more difficult than the other, as it is when one is using a mouse with 400-800dpi vs a thumbstick to aim, it seems fairly logical to level the playing field so both players have an equal task laid before them. With aim assist, it is correcting for a hardware deficiency, not a player skill deficiency. You are only "better doing the skill at hand" because they're using a thumbstick, which severely limits the skill ceiling when compared to your mouse.
