COD3 In-Depth Review

COD3 quite rightly is still a milestone, as it was Treyarch's first entry into the series proper, and a chance to show off what they could bring to the table. For the most part, they did not disappoint with this one, and the certainly belongs on everyone's shelf.

As one of the most diverse protagonist lineups to date, the chance to divide between American, British, Canadian and Polish servicemen is certainly a stroke of genius, especially in focusing on how they all came together during the Normandy Breakout. As always, the environments, characters, effects and physics are top-notch.

Why this title feels like the weakest one in the series to me has to do with the fact that, in my experience, the weapons seem to have weaker damage hits per round, so that it requires more rounds to put enemies down. Also, as a first attempt at button-mashing quick time events go, it's not bad at all, but it feels clunky compared to what was to come later on. It's not quite there yet, but it's clearly a step in the right direction.

Simply put, while not as good as the previous two games were, it's still pretty damn close, and is indeed a game that still holds up after more than a decade.
