Another 68Gig update... WTH

Soon you will need a 20Tb drive just for COD... It's ridicules. Do these updates even remove the files that is replaced or no longer needed? World of Tanks does LOL.... mmmm.... Lost Light does.... mmmmm... Fall out does

The problem is they're not prioritizing the right stuff. Or hiding assets for whatever reason. And even then, they don't know how to optimize the engine itself. They are not even compressing files, either.

Activision faces criticism for
prioritizing monetization over player experience, leading to issues like persistent bugs, ignored feedback, anti-consumer practices (e.g., aggressive microtransactions, questionable matchmaking), and poor handling of beloved IPs, creating a perception of valuing revenue over game quality and community trust, especially within their flagship Call of Duty franchise.

Key Criticisms:

  • Monetization Focus: Heavy emphasis on in-game purchases, battle passes, and cosmetics often overshadows gameplay fixes, frustrating players.
  • Ignoring Community Feedback: Players feel unheard as long-standing bugs remain unfixed and feature requests are ignored, damaging trust.
  • Anti-Consumer Practices: Allegations of problematic incentive structures (developer bonuses tied to higher prices/sales) and poor customer support (e.g., account issues) highlight perceived anti-consumer behavior.
  • Poor Game Quality/Bugs: Despite past successes, recent releases often suffer from technical issues, leading to comparisons with older, problematic companies.
  • IP Mismanagement: Critics point to poor handling of franchises like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, using them for marketing (e.g., Skylanders) rather than core game development, notes this Quora discussion.
  • Lack of Transparency/Communication: Perceived failures to communicate effectively with the player base contribute to negative sentiment.

The engine is old, the engine is overladed and the engine is corrupt.
And Activision still has to squeeze 2 more years out of it.
The release on the new engine will tell ever thing about where Activision is at with Cod. I still have a little optimism they will improve. But and this is a big But, If Infinity Ward has any say, It is already DOOMED.
