Warzone 4.0 Warzone Installation on PS5 Taking 190GB – Are All These Packs Necessary?

Hi everyone,

I recently updated Warzone on my PS5, and now the total installation size is 190GB. Here are the installed packs on my console:

  • Main data
    • Call of Duty® home
    • Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6 Multiplayer | 73.58 GB
  • Add-ons
    • MWIII: Shared Content Pack 1 | 23.88 GB
    • MWIII: Shared Content Pack 2 | 15.83 GB
    • MWIII: Shared Content Pack 3 | 14.47 GB
    • MWIII: Warzone | 22.55 GB
  • Language data
    • English (United States) | 89.98 GB
My question is, are all of these packs really necessary just to play Warzone? It seems unreasonable for Warzone alone to take up this much space. If anyone has experience with this, I'd appreciate any advice or guidance.

Thanks in advance!

They really need to STOP overcomplicating downloading... Warzone.

We are now 6 years out from the release of Modern Warfare (2019) and we are not in the era of optimization via files. Oh my God. I remember the first update of Modern Warfare (2019), I would've been like "oh ok." Today? It's inEXCUSABLE.

Oh, and to answer your question: Yes.

Its unoptimized.

I'm downloading Warzone, and its so fucking confusing to find Warzone on PS5. I think this is both a Sony problem, and a Activision problem.

If you want Warzone, you need to find the Call of Duty "app" and press the 3 dots.

Activision treats Call of Duty as one App. Ridiculous.

I am seeing the same issue. What I did though is selected Multiplayer files and packs. Not everything needs to be selected.

Could you please let me know exactly which packs were installed and the total storage space they take up on your console after installation?

Thank you!

Okay, bear with me;

When you go find the Call of Duty app, (because that's what they call it) you will have a choice of installs. It asks you if you're downloading campaign or multiplayer. This part only confuses shit even more. I know what they're trying to do, but whatever... Anyway... You see a list. ONLY select what you think is right for you. Both options are the same, but multiplayer wording is a bit confusing IMHO. There's no single player...

Anyway, the options will be very obvious to you - and if you're still confused, just focus on multiplayer, because - on the fundamental level - that's where Warzone resides. Like I said somewhere, they're using the same files from Campaign. Most of it is derived from old games... So, here's what I installed:

It's weird that MWII and MWIII is here, but that's the engine. It's 219 GB altogether I think. Home doesn't have like a defined storage, on the console. But the system tells you combined storage after all said and done. The download goes by fast if you have good internet. The PS5 has WiFi 6 on it, so if you're using WiFi, it should download with no issues. If you are on PS5 Pro, you got WiFi 7.

Home is actually the app itself. It's COD HQ.

When the download is done, it then asks you which version. Select PS5 version. That's what you want. Once that's done, the new COD HQ will come up after flash updates are done. You will have to go through bootcamp, but once you're done. Back out, and you'll be treated to a in-game cinematic. You're now in Warzone.
