Weapon loadout

In Weapons Race, regardless of what weapon I set as default, I am always given the assault rifle. I've modified a heavy machine gun and a sniper rifle and have set them as my default weapons. However, regardless of that, I'm always given the basic assault rifle. How do I correct this?
