Weird Problem. Data Retrieval Dir Is 3x Size Of Original Dir

I am trying to do a Data Retrieval on a 500GB HD with only about 15 GB of data.. When I copy everything from the external HD to a Dir on my HD, the dir size is 40GB!

I ran a Duplicate File scanner and it said that there is only 2.8GB of duplicate files..

How can this be???

Check your original folder for hidden files, maybe you have the option to view hidden files turned off so they are not accounted for in folder properties.

I don't think this will be the issue but it's a starting point.

Other possible ways this might happen are if shortcut files in original location are drawing on the actual linked files when copying.

Yep, that's what I think was the problem..

There was a .vhd file (Virtual Disk) that likely wasn't showing up in the scan of the original drive..

Good call... :D
