PC Laggy and Poor Performance PLS Help Advise

Hi im running PC and only really play Warzone 2. (based in UK)

I have a 1Gb Internet connection which i connect to via 5Ghz WiFi.

Im struggling with the in game performance, i used to suffer as well playing Warzone (OG).

My PC specs are: (captured from DXDIAG)

Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 19045) (19041.vb_release.191206-1406)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.5GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 8130MB RAM
Page File: 7005MB used, 13413MB available
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
Display Memory: 12146 MB
Dedicated Memory: 8081 MB
Shared Memory: 4065 MB
Current Mode: 2560 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz)

Im running the recommended in game settings as configured via the NVIDIA tool.

Whilst im not the best player, the FPS seems to fluctuate between 40-150 at different points of gameplay and my Kill ratio is terrible, i think my PC isn't helping.
MY GPU sometimes reaches around 75 celcius so im thinking to additionally add more cooling as well.

What do you think I can do to help with a more reasonable gameplay? Im finding that due to the FPS lag etc im letting off shots most likely quite some time after my opponents do, who have better cleaner frame rates etc so im pretty much always dying in a standoff.

Please help.

Minimum Specifications (Multiplayer only)

Minimum specifications needed to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III multiplayer:
OS: Windows 10 64 Bit (latest update)*
CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200
RAM: 8 GB
Storage Space: SSD with 79 GB available space at launch for COD HQ and Multiplayer (34 GB with COD HQ already installed)
Hi-Rez Assets Cache: Up to 32 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 / GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon RX 470
Video Memory: 2 GB

Recommended Specifications
Recommended specs to run at 60FPS in most situations with all options set to high:
OS: Windows 10 64 Bit (latest update) or Windows 11 64 Bit (latest update)*
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
RAM: 16 GB
Storage Space: SSD with 149 GB† available space at launch (78 GB with COD HQ and Warzone already installed)
Hi-Rez Assets Cache: Up to 32 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti / RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600XT
Video Memory: 8 GB

You more or less meet the minimum requirements as listed by Activision. That being said you are indeed running with some what older equipment. This will definitely being adding to your woes. However, please check to see what, if anything, is running in the background that does not need to be. I see that you are "Current Mode: 2560 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz)" and this may be causing issues too. The speed of the monitor will impact the fps as well. Experiment with lowering the ingame resolution to test the results. Could you also list what video settings you are using ingame. These can be found under Settings. The settings you use can be affecting the performance in a big way. You are going to have to soften a lot of your settings until you can hopefully get better framerates as opposed to looking great visually on your monitor. More cooling is never a bad thing but unless it is shutting down I would not worry too much about your video card hitting 75c as my 3080RTX will hit that without problems. Is it possible to directly connect to your internet with ethernet cable instead of wireless? That will help a bit too. Are you running with a older disc style harddrive or a newer SSD? If it is the older one then make sure you have defragged it as well since scattered file structure will cause the system to take longer to find the required files.

Thank you, im not running anything other than the necessary in the background. My game is ran off a Toshiba 1TB SSD. Im considering upping the ram just a bit to 16gb for now.
I have a primary drive traditional type (850gb) with a 2nd drive for gaming. (1tb)

Im too far from the internet hub to run a fixed cable but the wi fi signal is good here.

The resolution is wider to fit to the monitor i have, its an acer predator z35 wide screen variant.

As for in game settings i have:

Display mode: full screen exclusive
refresh rate 59.978
display resolution 2560x1080
aspect ratio automatic

For quality its set to automatic
texture resolutions is therefore set to HIGH (might drop this a notch)

Most things seem set to HIGH on reflection i'll drop things in isolation and see if that improves anything.

Your steps sound solid to me so please report back with your progress! I would definitely drop the display resolution to see if that helps. Take it in steps and see what improves things. Are you able to set gsync?

I dropped the quality to NORMAL rather than AUTOMATIC and the texture resolution to NORMAL as opposed to HIGH. It did improve somewhat but still not perfect.

I'll try next the display resolution and report back.
Also you mentioned earlier my gear is quite dated, i think i built this pc 7 years ago lol. I cleaned out the fans and seem to have much improved my operating temperatures, so i dont think i need to add more fans which is a bonus.

I've priced up an additional 8Mb Ram, i still might order that but for now i'll tweak as is and see what improvements i can get.

G sync yes i think i should get it because my screen and card seems to both support it, but i think im missing the official drivers for the monitor so might need to add that. (i have the windows auto detect driver at the moment)

I'll try the resolution change later.
