HI everyone.
About 3 days into Cold War dropping, I realized I was going to play it enough to warrant going out and finding a group of people to play it with. I'm 35, so my IRL social circle tends to not be inundated with other like-minded gamers like me (which is OK!). I thought where better to start than searching an internet forum.
I stumbled upon AoV here and contacted one of the Clan Leaders, not really knowing what I was getting myself into. They informed me that they are just a bunch of guys and gals who enjoy all game modes from Warzone, MP, and Zombies, and like to goof in the discord from time to time. It was more of a "come take a look and see what you think" conversation. I was only really interested in finding people to play MP with but thought I would give them a shot. I thought the only difficulty I would have is I'm from the UK (so the only person in the clan currently on an EU timezone), while they are all stateside.
Three weeks later I couldn't be happier with my decision. It is not too large a group you get lost in the numbers, but the discord is always active enough to organize/schedule something for the evening. I have been taught how to play zombies from scratch (and am really enjoying a new aspect of COD) by a couple and their very enthusiastic son and will be doing that a lot more in the future. Warzone isn't really my thing, and it is very active amongst clan members, but I haven't felt pressured to get involved which suits me perfectly.
Last night they held an in-clan 2v2 SnD tournament, with prizes up for grabs, which I thought was super cool - not sure who stumped up for them but mad props. They are also currently forming a GB roster to do some more of the competitive side of things too. I am very impressed with the structure and roles the leadership play in the clan.
Oh, and there is also one member who is constantly asking for clips of plays because they are putting a clan montage together, their position in the clan is Content Creator, and I look forwards to seeing his work as it takes shape.
All in all, there are multiple different aspects to this group that you can either get involved with or leave them be. I won't be playing comp, and with my very average gameplay my clips are hard to come by. I can be a loud personality at times, but I have been subdued since joining to find my feet here, and from just keeping a close eye on whats going on without engaging too much, I would certainly recommend it for anyone who plays 24/7, or just wants to join a lobby with other gamers casually.
It would be great for me personally if some people from my timezone would play, but I often find myself up later anyway to join some of the East Coast players for a lobby or two.
All-in-all, thoroughly enjoying my time here, and long may it continue.
If you have any questions or would like me to put you in touch with a clan leader, feel free to reach out.
