As everyone knows, Call of Duty Ghosts will arrive November 5th worldwide to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC. We also know that Call of Duty: Ghosts is a launch title for Next Generation consoles. Call of Duty Ghosts for PlayStation 4 will launch alongside the system on November 15th. Call of Duty Ghosts for Xbox One will launch alongside the system on November 22nd.

But if you can’t wait to buy Call of Duty: Ghosts and start playing. Activision has made it easy to enjoy Call of Duty: Ghosts on either current-generation consoles, or just plain ol’ upgrade to next generation consoles. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing “Next Gen Upgrade Plans.”

Physical Discs Upgrade: You go to your participating retailer and upgrade your current copy of Call of Duty Ghosts to a next generation copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts. But these upgrades are brand-specific. If you own a PlayStation 3 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts you are entitled to upgrade to PlayStation 4 version for a $9.99 fee. If you own a Xbox 360 version, you are entitled to upgrade to the Xbox One version for the same $9.99 fee.
Here are the few retailers that are allowing these PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4 upgrades:

GameStop (Various European Markets)

Trade in your copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts on PS3 and purchase the PS4 version for a significantly reduced upgrade fee. Offer valid until December 31st, 2013 or while supply lasts. Go in-store for more details.​

GAME (UK)​

GAME will be giving PS3 players approximately £40 in trade in value when you upgrade to Call of Duty: Ghosts on PS4. Offer ends December 24th, 2013. Go to GAME for complete details and step-by-step instructions.​

Best Buy (US)​

Players who buy the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will receive a $10 coupon via e-mail valid towards the purchase of the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts. Then, when ready to upgrade, players can exchange their Xbox 360 copy of the game for a minimum value of $40, which combined with the $10 coupon will allow them to get the Xbox One version for $9.99. Here’s how to upgrade Xbox 360 to Xbox One at Microsoft Stores:

Microsoft Store (US)

Buy Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox 360 and you can trade-in later for the Xbox One version for only $9.99. The offer is valid at Microsoft Store locations until December 31st, 2013. Visit Microsoft.com for more details.​

Digital Upgrades: Sony and Microsoft outlined their own upgrade plans via physical to digital upgrades or digital to digital upgrades and vice versa…

Sony announced their own Upgrade Plan, as revealed via their own PlayStation Blog…

The PS4 upgrade program is completely optional for our fans, and applies whether you buy a new PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system disc, or buy the game digitally from the PlayStation Store for PS3.

For a limited time, every new physical copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts for PS3 will include a flyer with a unique Sony code on it. Redeem the code packed into the PS3 version of the game on the PlayStation Store and download the PS4 version of the game for a suggested retail price of $10, €10 or £10 depending on territory.​

Alternatively, if you buy the digital PS3 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts from the PlayStation Store, you will also be given the opportunity to upgrade to the PS4 version. Simply go to the PlayStation store and purchase the discounted PS4 version for a suggested retail price of $10, €10 or £10 depending on territory. You will then be able to enjoy the PS3 version on your PS3, and the PS4 version on you PS4.​

These offers must be redeemed, and upgrades purchased, no later than March 31st, 2014; offers available globally. More details about these programs will be coming soon.​

Microsoft, through Activision and Co. announced their own upgrade plan called “Xbox Game Ahead Program.”

Gamers can purchase a disc-less dual-license digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts at participating retailers for a suggested retail price of $69.99. This version will include the Xbox 360 digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts, as well as the Xbox One digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts – linked and unlocked via a user’s Xbox Live gamertag. Look for more information on how to pre-order at participating retailers in the coming weeks.

Via the Game Ahead Program, players can also purchase a digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts directly from the Xbox Live Marketplace for a suggested retail price of $59.99. And, when ready to upgrade to Xbox One, you can purchase a digital Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts for a suggested retail price of just $10 on the Xbox Live Marketplace until March 31, 2014.
