Have you been unable to join traditional, time-consuming clans because, being responsible adult, you have had to juggle your free time with going to college, taking care of children, or being employed in a full time job?

Are you wishing there was a group out of gamers out there that just want to play together, at your convenience, and have a laid-back, fun time doing so?

MEMBERSHIP​

We are fortunate to have over 6,900 adults registered on our homepage, and are eager to play Call of Duty: Ghosts.
We have a large collection of parents. And we have the large collection of the working men and women members.

GUIDELINES​

We like to ascribe the Gunslinger experience akin to having drinks with some buds after work or partying with them on the weekends. Nothing stops the music faster than a few knuckleheads, so we do have a few guidelines we expect people to follow during their stay:

• Pornographic and/or obscene material is prohibited.
• Self promotion by new members will likely be treated as spam. This includes promotion of own non-commercial websites.
• No personal attacks on other members or various sorts of offensive behavior is allowed.
• No glitching/hacking/cheating. We define such as purposefully accessing the game's programming or abusing a flaw in the programming to achieve an act or status that is not intended or possible otherwise.

The time has finally arrived!

The launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 seemed like it would never come, and now it is here. Many of us are standing in midnight release lines tonight. Many of us are coming down with a sudden case of the flu tomorrow and will be calling in sick at work. Many of us are going to be playing BO2 until we become zombies ourselves.

So, why not start out your time in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 the right way? With so much content promised on the disc and much more to come through periodic DLC, it is important that you get the most out of the BO2 experience. To do that, join the Gunslingers.

The Black Ops 2 Gunslingers is the largest and most active Call of Duty clan specifically for parent and hard working adult gamers. Without doubt, you will be scanning through the clan section of these forums to see which group(s) you want to join. I promise you will notice some things.

First, too many "casual" clans have voucher and/or probation periods. Before you are even allowed to be "one of them," you have to jump virtual hurdles or have a specific number of pre-existing members vouch for you. Not at the Gunslingers. We have no probation periods or voucher systems. We strongly believe that all our members, regardless new or old, should be treated with respect and consideration. Join. Meet fellow adult gamers. Let the good times roll. Any group that demands more than that is wasting your time.

Second, too many "friendly" clans don't let you see their community prior to joining. Essentially, you are being asked to join their group blindfolded while hoping that their claims made in their recruiting threads are legitimate. When was the last time you ever bought or signed up for something without getting to see the product? I would hope never. The Gunslingers clan wants you to feel confident that you made an informed decision when joining us. That is why nearly all of our forum, chat, and site content are viewable as a guest. Come. Check us out. If you like what you see. Join. It is as simple as that. Anyone trying to get you to join something without letting you see if they are active or a cool collection of folks with whom to game is someone to be cautious of.

Within the first weeks of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 launch and on the eve the Nintendo Wii U console release, an incredible Gunslingers milestone occurred.

The Gunslingers group is now over 5,000 members strong!

I hope you find that amazing, because I sure as Hell do. Bend the ear of long time members like Balki, Korchie, Dick Lazer, or anyone else who has been active within GS for more than a few years. They will tell that it was never in our game plan to have so many fellow mature, casual gamers also consider the Gunslingers a needed outpost in their internet travels. Please, take a moment to view all the fantastic folks who have joined the rest of us in the last fifteen days.

To the above new members and to everyone else registered as a Gunslinger, I sincerely thank you all for joining.

The 5,000 mark is no feat in the ledger of a salesman. It isn't some sort of return of investment from advertising. GS has and will never be a money venture. We can celebrate such a milestone because of you. Because you wanted to escape typical clan obligations, because you wanted to game with other adults who share your own time restrictions, because you welcomed new members in the Introductions section, because you posted in the Introductions section, because you said "hello" in chat, because you were willing to make new friends by sending out invites from the Master Lists, because you were steadfast in keeping the GS narrative about friendliness and mutual respect rather than bragging rights, we have 5,000 members.

The way we have collectively went about making this grand experiment in social gaming succeed is also something we all should be proud of. We did it by sticking to our guns over being adults-only and casual specific. When we first entered the scene, most clans assumed that the competitive clan model was the only way in which to succeed.

Fast forward five years and, largely due to more and more adults playing video games, the general clan scene has become generally more casual. If you noticed our recruiting messages being echoed in those of other groups, you aren't alone. Sometimes, entire pages of our website are literally copied and pasted onto upstarts. Plagiarism is never welcomed, but it does serve as a positive meter-stick in regards to our influence.

That isn't to say that we are no longer ahead of the curve. The norm of gaming groups is making new members jump through hoops otherwise known as probation period, voucher requirements, and a stepped process in becoming a "true" member. People are still being asked to join groups without being able to even view their content prior to registering. The belief is that such hurdles are necessary to ensure a positive gaming experience.

Again, that is where you all come in. You are the ultimate rebuttal to that myth.

Because of your commitment in keeping us friendly and playing clean through natural social dispositions, we don't need those restrictions. We get to treat everyone here as they should be treated, regardless of what "Join Date" is stamped next to their name. Sure, there have been times when moderation by GS Leaders were needed, but moderation should always be a safety net, never a shadow cast by a gavel.

So, that was a heady rant, and I am sure I have thoroughly embarrassed myself by this point. Let's get to what all the above is really about. Celebrating! Fridays and Saturdays represent a long running tradition at GS called Frosty Pints. Grab some drinks. Grab a headset. Send out those friend invites. And light up those online servers with the GS tag. Make this Frosty Pints a toast to all that you have accomplished by continuing to do what you always have done: welcoming your fellow Gunslingers and having a good time.

The Gunslingers is an oasis for parent and hard working adult gamers from around the world that was formed back in June, 2007. The underlining goal of our group is to create a gaming environment that is fun yet civil and friendly for mature, casual gamers. Within the Gunslingers clan, we love Halloween. Some of us are going attending costume parties (my wife and I went as a Ghostbuster and the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man), getting the rugrats ready for some trick-or-treating, or building up candy reserves to hand out on Halloween.

These "real life" traditions are being reflected online because the Gunslingers clan is celebrating Halloween all month long in the following ways:

Zombie Week - During the week of Halloween, we are going back and playing some classic co-op, zombie killing/surviving games together. Some of these events will even be streamed live! An event is scheduled every day!

Site Banners - We have swapped out our front page banner and our forum index banner with Halloween themed ones! Clear your brower's cache if they haven't changed for you.

Halloween Forum Avatars - We have a preloaded gallery of Halloween themed avatars that all members are welcome to use. We have even added several "Undead Gunslingers" ones as well!

Halloween Arcade Games - The GS* Forum has a large flash arcade installed into it, and it includes a mighty ghoulish selection of Halloween and zombie games. A recent install: "Agh Zombies!"

Streaming Horror Movies - Somewhat buried within the Gunslinger Gaming site is a collection of streaming, public domain horror movies of the old black-and-white days. If you have a sweet fang for vintage science fiction and horror "classics," you can watch them from the comfort of the Gunslingers Theater! Every movie you load, you will be able to view its original marketing poster, read interesting facts about the film, and chat with your fellow Gunslingers as you watch!

Halloween Smileys - Add some pumpkin spice to your forum posts with our collection of Halloween themed smileys.

Halloween Game Live Streams - Do you stream live gameplay? If you plan on streaming a horror game, give us all a head's up when you plan on doing so. The more time you give us, the more we can collectively promote your Halloween streams!

This time of year sure goes by fast, doesn't it? It probably has something to do with the fact that so many holidays are shoved into a three month period. It is hard to believe we are already beyond the ten day mark of November! Before we know it, another year of the Gunslingers clan will be over.

So, just how active are we after all these years? It is easy, I suppose, to just look at a total amount of members, but that doesn't actually say anything about how active a clan still is, does it? For example, is a long term clan still getting new members, or is its website just collecting digital cobwebs like an overly proud homeowner refusing to take down his Halloween decorations?

I am happy to report that the Gunslingers clan is still very much active. In just the first ten days of November, we have welcomed over SIXTY-THREE new members into our virtual saloon! Incredible! Thank you all for joining and welcome aboard!

The amount of members is not what is really important here. What is important is what all these members signify. The Gunslingers remains a great, active clan exclusively for all us mature, casual gamers. We don't pay for SEO (search engine placement). We don't run ads or harbor sponsors to boost our numbers. We are old school gamers, so we succeed the old school way: through commitment to our members and mission statement. We say we are for adult gamers, and we mean it. You aren't going to be talking to squeakers among us. We say we are casual gamers, and we meant it. You aren't going to be pressured into taking part in some silly clan war.

A fantastic milestone just occurred in our clan. As of this week, we, one of the longest running and most active groups for older gamers, became over 10,000 members strong! In the beginning of 2009, we shed our freeware hosted site and built our own. Between then and the present, we have seen over ten thousand fellow mature, casual gamers walk through our virtual saloon doors. Incredible!

The raw numbers aren't what is really important here. What IS important is how active we are and how that level of membership base reflects our seven year+ dedication in providing an oasis for the gamer out there who just wants to kick his/her boots up and share some good times with people his/her own age. To put it into better perspective of just how active we are, we were celebrating our 7,000th member around the same time last year!

Happy Holiday, Gunslingers!

Let me guess: December is a busy time for you. Family to see. Presents to wrap. Holiday dinners to plan. Counting down the days before you can send the rugrats back off to the classrooms. But this is also the time of the year us older gamers can either get some of the big new releases under the Christmas tree or flash gift cards around town as if they were credit cards in a bad '80s movie.

One of the largest and most active clans exclusively for fellow parents and adults, The Gunslingers, have also got into the holiday spirit. We have decorated our clan's website with holiday cheer, so check it out! Every single page has got a touch of Ol' Saint Nick. Also, we are adding holiday themed games into our own custom arcade! Some of them are even in good taste. This year, our first installation is "Finding Santa." It sounds simple, but it is a lot harder than you may think. It (like the rest of our arcade) is fun to tool around in and aim for the high score when we can't be in game together.

2014 is officially over. Being a clan that attracts older gamers from around the world with different backgrounds and additional game interests, we have an annual tradition.

THE GUNSLINGER GAMES AWARDS!

What 2014 games did you enjoy the most? With more than sixteen voting categories for this year's edition, you are invited to make your voice heard every step of the way, regardless if you are a greenhorn Gunslinger member or an veteran one.

Right now, we are at the tail end of the nomination phase of the awards, in which you decide which games even deserve to be voted on. Gunslingers Newsletter: Week of Feb. 2nd, 2015

I know, I know. It has been a while since I last posted a clan update here. That is because the first month of 2015 has been incredibly active for us! Here are some highlights of the more noteworthy events going on within the Gunslingers frontier.

New Forum! The end of January marked the six year birthday of our clan's own forum, and we have celebrated the occasion by giving it a massive overhaul! We have improved the visual and performance of the forum software. Additionally, our members can now take full advantage of enhanced versions of our own custom flash arcade, member blogs that every member automatically gets and can customize as they wish, make use our Tapatalk support, and grab quicker attention of fellow GSers by using the mention function while posting. A special tip of the hat must be given to GS*Dunkaroo69 for getting the project off the ground and to GS*Sosyc for taking care of many of the core image files. Over 160 New Members in One Month! Our overall clan welcomed over one hundred and sixty fellow mature, casual gamers into our fold during the month of January. Talk about starting the New Year out with a bang! If you were on the fence on whether or not to join us, come and take part in the party! We keep your gaming experience fun, casual, and utterly on your own time table.

Gunslinger Games Awards! During the entire month of January, we hosted our annual tradition of voting on our favorite gaming experiences during 2014. Have you ever watched the results of an awards show and wondered, "Who picked the winners?" Well, we sure did! That is why the most active clan exclusively for adult gamers collectively cast our votes on over a dozen gaming categories. The results will be revealed via podcast and Gunslinger Gazette article at the end of this week!

Episode #4 of Gaming News w/ Fed Architect! Gunslinger leader, Fed Architect, hosts our Youtube video program that briefly condenses current events in gaming and within the GS clan.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day Weekend (heck, full week), everyone! The first half of March 2015 has been incredibly busy for us Gunslingers, so let's get right to it in regards to the latest edition of the Gunslingers Newsletter!

Gunslingers Shot Glass Raffle ~ Our ever talented GS*Leader Hir3ling is giving away custom made shot glasses sporting the Gunslingers symbol and clan name. He made them himself and has already given away some glasses to clanmates on the State side of operations. Now, he is raffling off THREE more shot glasses to members outside of the U.S.! All you need to do is respond to his post on our Forums or on our Facebook group to enter yourself into the raffle. Good luck, everyone, and thank you, Hir3ling, for your creative generosity!

Steam Raffles Continue! ~ Throughout February and all of March, we are raffling off free digital copies of Steam games to our clanmates. Thanks to the generosity of GS*Sosyc, we are currently giving away a copy of LEGO The Hobbit. Maybe you want to win it for your children. Maybe you need to feed the inner child within you. Regardless of the reason, replying to this post will get yourself into the event.

Hitbox & More Live Streaming Support! ~ We have noticed that more and more of our members are live streaming from Hitbox (as well as Twitch), so we have upped our game on our end as well. Now, all GS* members can embed their Hitbox and/or Twitch feed in any of their posts at the Gunslingers forum, and that includes your live streaming chat window!
