How to "Takedown" ?

How do I actually perform takedowns? Tried as described but wont work at all.

I don’t think it works, l have tried pressing r3 on PS4 and circle, when I been right behind someone without them knowing, after a while they here me laying down and standing up again.

Press and hold the melee button while behind them. On console the standard melee button is R3 or pressing the right stick downwards. On PC the default I think is either E or V. I've performed quite a few on both PS4 and PC with no issues. Kinda funny but you can actually do a takedown train with multiple people. If you assassinate someone and then one of their team mate assassinates you during the animation you'll just get kicked out of the animation, and begin the animation of being assassinated. And then one of your're teammates assassinates him, so on so forth. Saw a 4 piece Take Down train earlier kind of hilarious to see. The person being assassinated when the take down is interrupted survives. In the 4 piece it was so ridiculous that the 3 of us that just witnessed it, just kind of sat there looking at each other like WTF just happened.

Use dead silence, your target must be unaware of your approach, if they see you then it won't work, then when you're close enough, hold the melee button.

I am using a PC / keyboard and I know holding down the melee button works perfectly fine when performing takedowns in modern warfare.

I have tried this in Cold War as well, several times but it simply does not work.

I usually have that on and I always come from behind. How does it work in MW but not in CW, lol. Bugged game.
