Microsoft and Activision jointly announced that they've agreed to an all-cash transaction for Microsoft to outright acquire Activision Blizzard, Inc. The deal is currently pending approval(s) from Activision shareholders, investors, and the government. Microsoft offered all-cash at the tune of $68.7 billion, and the deal closes in Activision's fiscal year 2023, which runs from July 2022 to June 2023. According to Phil Spencer, “Until this transaction closes, Activision Blizzard and Microsoft Gaming will continue to operate independently. Once the deal is complete, the Activision Blizzard business will report to me as CEO, Microsoft Gaming.”
