Sledgehammer Games is developing the next Call of Duty

Sledgehammer Games has been interested in making a Modern Warfare title since MW3 has been released, they're even huge fans of Call of Duty in general - as noted in their most recent Twitter post. This is not really a surprise since they've confirmed last may, that they're heads down on their next project.



That tweet confirms that they are this year's Call of Duty developer, and the co-founders of Sledgehammer Games both have been excited to bring a letter to their followers, Call of Duty fans, and the industry as a whole in a blog post on their site:

Sledgehammer Games was built around a singular goal – to create world-class interactive entertainment that entertains millions of fans around the world. We have a passion for creating games and a team dedicated to achieving excellence in everything that we do.

Having the honor of developing the new, next generation of Call of Duty is a developer’s dream come true. All of us here at Sledgehammer Games have a shared vision to create the best work of our lives. The next Call of Duty represents a new era for this amazing franchise, and we look forward to sharing what we have been working on.

Moreover, in an earnings call, Eric Hirshberg, the C.E.O. of the Activision Publishing arm goes on to say that this puts Call of Duty in a 3-year rotation between Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games.

I don't know how I feel about Sledgehammer Games since they released MW3. I am not getting my hopes up, because of the way Ghosts has turned out. I am hoping for a good Call of Duty for 2014, but I am preparing for a train wreck.
