COD LAG

LMAO im sorry but do you have a mental deficiency? the PS3 is a static system, there aren't 10 different types of PS3's... so theres no such thing as requirements... the lag has nothing to do with that. Youd have made more sense if you questioned my internet connection but its high speed broadband internet so thats not the problem. Its the game that sucks....

Dude I'm sorry but in some matters of that statement you are incorrect. As the slim PS3 has a higher graphic system compaired to the fatter version which has the lower graphic system which enabled it to play PS2 games. So if you had one of the original fatter PS3 then your graphics might not be able to play the newer cod games as well.

Actually, when you said there aren't 10 different types of PS3's. That wasn't true.

At PS3 launch, there were 2 different types of PS3's, one at 600 and one at 500, each with their types of specifications. Now, the later models of the fatty's took out the PS2 Graphics Engine, and the Emotion Engine. That has NOTHING to do with PS3's ability to play PS3 games. Nothing.

The only thing it has more to do with, is the backward compatibility of PS2 games. Period.

The Slim PS3's were supposed to decrease electricity density. The motherboard has been reconfigured so that it runs efficiently with lower power electric capacity, in the later ones, they removed half of the required electric specs.

None of this has to do with the PS3's performance for games. Nothing.

My take away from this is that both of you are wrong. All PS3's can play the newer Call of Duty games.

Now, back to the thread at hand.

The lag has more to do with someone else's connection. The most well known cause of the problem is lagswitching.

But wouldn't the older PS3 have a lower graphic defiency becuase of the PS2 technology in them? Yes they may be able to play the newer cod games but they surely can't play the newer cod games as well as the newer PS3 consoles.

By the way being a PC gamer( though I am expierenced in all the other consoles) I have never had the problem lagswitching and was wondering what is lagswitching?

The chips that are in the newer PS3's are the same ones you find on the older fatty systems. No difference. The only difference they made is reduce the circuits of the cell, and other affected chips. This, once again, as I've mentioned before reduces the amount of electric current that goes into the PS3.

It was only to reduce the power consumption. The one that was in the old PS3 was a 90nm chip, the one that is in the newer one is 65nm. This difference would mean that the power consumption would have been reduced by 30%. Let me double check and correct.

True. But you didn't answer one question what is lagswitching? ( Because I have never encountered it before)
You know how your broadband is a coax cable? The person that wants to disrupt other people's connection is the person who's messing with his own cable so that whoever is on the other side of that lobby, is running slower.

Let's pretend you're a lagswitcher, your screen looks like it's playing smoothly, but the player in front of you freezes, however, the person who's "frozen" is actually being lagged. As in, in their view, the game starts to stutter, and lag. Frames start to skip, and ultimately you're screwed against this lagswitcher.

In other words, the lagswitcher is interrupting your connection.

To see this in action...

This is Modern Warfare 2.

I get this every day, and the only way to get by this is having a really good broadband connection, and be low key. If you successfully kill a lagswitcher - expect him to leave the lobby ASAP.

So, if you see that "Host Ended Game" message it's because person who's the host is scared of staying in the lobby. Especially a lagswitcher. If you successfully kill one and he stays until the next match, expect him to be leaving as the game starts.

PC players aren't likely to encounter it because the host has a variety of options to choose from. He can kick and ban a player from the server.

PS3 and Xbox 360 players are usually the ones who suffer the lagswitch problems. The match stays "on" only until the host leaves the match, or if you're idle for more than a few minutes, you're kicked.

Actually, if a player is a lagswitcher on PC, you won't stand a chance against him. Why? Because the PC is far more ...vulnerable than consoles in this aspect. If you have a good connection, it won't matter. Your system can't handle that much information, unless your computer is 3x powerful than the Xbox 360/PS3.

What I meant is that PC players won't see lagswitchers that much in their lobby because the host is usually very adamant about not having any bullshit on their server, so there's a 80% chance that a lagswitcher is in a PC lobby. Nobody's stupid enough to try to get themselves banned.

The reason why lagswitchers get away with it on Xbox 360 or PS3, is that, until now there wasn't a way to report cheaters. PS3 has a grief report feature now. Not sure about Xbox 360, but I do know that both Microsoft and Activision are using their ban hammers heavily.

What I hear, though, from others is that PC players are very savvy. Let me put it this way; most of the time, the lagswitchers in the consoles space are usually n00bs, people that can't win a FFA or an objective game, so they cheat or lagswitch.

When i said there arent 10 different ps3's i meant that in terms of general ps3 specs, its still the same cell processor and still the same geforce 7 series card and same ram, which are the 3 aspects of A system that really matter... besides of course HD speed and things like that but that is related more to PC...
