Controller Issues

Scaramanga

Recruit
Hi,

I seem to have acquired aproblem with the control on MW3, it simply does not feel as sharp as it did at launch, and it also appears to have happened after an update. I was informed by a friend whom i play the game with that they had removed some cheating software from the server, I can't remember what it was, he might have sais SMBB, but if that makes no sense, ignore it.

To give you an idea of how badly the control has been affected, my sensitivity settings used to be 6 and 8 on horizontal and vertical, currently I have had to set them on 3 each, and change the ADS multiplyer to Full Zoom. Using a scope seems to help too, I appear to have more control with a Marksman atm, but I digress.

I havesn't sat idle, and have been trying to alter my controller setings to compensate, which isn't ideal, but it is manageable. So here's a list of things I have tried, or am considering, or would like your input on, along with supporting information, so I don't lead you down the wrong rabbit hole.

I have never used any cheat software in my 30 years of gaming.

This issue is game specific, I have not noticed any problems on any other game, but i have reset both of my pads just in case.

There is no controller software update, they have the latest firmware.

I have deleted the entire game from my system and re-downloaded the 142GB, so I have a clean re-install

I have considered my save game could be corrupted in some way, and maybe deleting my saved game would help? My progress should be saved in my Activision account right? TBH if losing my progress meant I got proper control back, I would happily sit through the grind again.

I have had every Playstation, and as Web Developer, I. reasonably technically astute (in case any of you uber geeks have some bizzare hack that may work... It also means I'm not going to fall for any stupid stuff!)

So does anyone have any ideas, TIA.

Since it happened after an update it could be a universal problem or one that they are going to or have been made aware of. Sometimes it is best to simply wait and see. I will google around abit later today and see if others have reported it or mentioned it. Check around too if you havent already done so.

Wired or wireless? Fresh batteries? Do you ever see the Packet Loss symbol while ingame? Are you hard wired to your modem or wireless? Any new devices in the room where you play that could be introducing interference?

Have you tried to factory reset your console to see if that clears any issues?

I did find this but I have no idea if this will pertain to your situation or not.....

Step 1: Go to “Settings”: Find the settings menu in the game. It’s where your troubleshooting journey begins.

Step 2: Head to “Storage”: From the settings, move to the storage section. This is where your game data hangs out on your console.

Step 3: Open “Saved Data”: Inside storage settings, look for the saved data folder. It's like the secret stash for your MW3 progress and configurations.

Step 4: Delete “MW3 Files”: Dive into the MW3 saved data and delete all the files. This wipes the slate clean for your game’s configuration.

Step 5: Restart the Game: After clearing out the MW3 files, give your game a fresh start. Restarting is key to applying the changes and setting up a new configuration.

I have noticed since not the past update but one before that I have button lag. swapping out batteries did not fix it, a new controller did not fix it. I think its in game. Sometimes pulling the trigger does nothing. a lot of times weapon swaps do not happen then when I hit it the second time BAM I am slammed with a double weapon swap putting me back to what I started with.

Frustrating beyond belief

I have had a Google, a friend supplied me with instructions to clear the cache, so I will be doing that later, and I may delete my saved game.

Pretty sure it is game specific, no other game affected, I have submitted feedback to Activision.

I will take a look at your suggestions too later.

Cheeers

Yeah sometimes it is just the game and that was my first thought. Once in awhile, just like Archangel72, mine will do similar things randomly. I usually hesitate to deep diving just to give it time for Activision to look at it (maybe).

Will this remove all my stats and etc? or does that stay at the activision side?

My understanding is that all the important stuff is saved to the Activision cloud storage. Otherwise, everytime someone deletes and reinstalls the game for what ever reason would have people storming their offices!!

Also, as per the sticky, you can always take a peek at this site to see if there are reported and documented issues and fixes to the game.

Cache cleared, system software updated, controller software updated, saved game deleted. Still got all my gear, but the issue remains, so I will have to wait... did tweet activision...
