Warzone Executions can be countered?

Was just in a match and I performed an execution on somebody and it stopped midway through the execution and he almost killed me. Is this a real thing or a glitch that Infinity Ward won't fix?

Yes, possible, but you are in a QTE phase, so, you'd need to press shoot or another melee action to counter.

No real instructions, but you do have to be really quick. I mean AS SOON as the execution starts. Not a second delay. You need to be quick...
