I know this is a controversial take but I must say Infinity Ward has not disappointed ever after OG MW2 the games have gotten better and better by them. All of them I hold dear.

The maps of MW3
The Bots and Blitz of Ghosts
The refined gameplay and Campaign of Infinite Warfare
The marvelous options of MW 2019
the.. AR-57 in MWII
the... 40 bots possibility for a limited time in MWIII

MW4 I can not play currently because I lack the hardware but it looks magnificent. See you on the Battlefield, answering the Call of Duty, on the Homefront!

What follows are my videos I hold dear.

Please make infinite warfare 2. For C&C Tiberium which is dead... I know you care. Show the world how hard of steel your balls are. We have gone too long without a jetpack CoD. Maybe make it a class, the FTL.

And for gods sake give me more bots in Infinite Warfare I spent over 300$ on the unique lootboxes to get all the guns and thankfully we won against lootboxes but don't you think I deserve more than 6 enemies to shoot???!!! At least on PC!!!

Where is the MW3 remaster? Or give me Bots in the OG game! BO has them... I want to play these maps again! Bootleg was my favorite... Seatown... why no map maker??? BO3 sort of has it... I know modding is dead but... only because we let it die!

We let it die??? I dont think so. I lived that life for a good number of years. Get your facts straight about how and why map making really disappeared.

My fellow friend, if you know more than me then enlighten me and please, spare me your anger for the battlefield, but if you must express it, I will endure it in Christo.

Im not sure what that last image is but ok.

First off, there is only anger if you want to see it that way. No anger was implied by me. Having said that, please let me clarify.

My background is that since early in Call of Duty history myself and many very good friends devoted more time to creating new maps/levels instead of playing for as many versions of the game that we had access to the mapping tools. I created, founded, and ran one of the biggest mapping sites in the world and consulted with other similar sites as well as working with Treyarch in the develop phase of new release tools.

I hope that I have now established my creds to your satisfaction.

As to why it died is very simple. First and for most is that Activision removed the option and the ability to rent, host and run our own servers. This was vitally important so that we could develop, test and refine our creations. It also provided some protection to the creator to keep our property in our names without other wannabes stealing our source files and claiming ownership or worse making bastardized versions of our work.

Second. The last released set of tools were absolutely the best that we ever had but the downfall is that in order for us to test our work and find the flaws which allowed us to release our vision in a completed state was simply not possible. We could only test in "Portal" style servers which allowed everyone access to everything so that by the time you were able to release a "Final" version of your vision the community had already done many many things to it thus forever changing the creative license that we required.

So I ask you, did we let it die? Personally, I feel like it was not the mappers nor the modders that can be held responsible for this. Think what you like but now, perhaps, you can see it from a developers frame of mind.

Cheers

I see you are a human with a great legacy and I am humbled. I am not perfect I have blind spots...

My first CoD was some WW2 one played at a friends house. Because I never believed the history I was always against playing shooters with real stuff in it. So I played Quake3 Arena and Duke3D and Red Faction and so forth.

My first CoD was MW2 on a Xbox360 and due to my father being protective I had no internet... I only ever played campaign and maybe Coop. But I fortunately had the uncensored version so I could play No Russian the way it is meant to be. I hold this game very dear to me.

Now I did hear about the great MW2 controversy. The lack of server browser and freedom. There even was a boycott call. I was not there at that time.

But look my dear friend... CoD is a commercial product from a company that needs to pay salaries. And the fans of which there are millions... but soft disclosure always took precedence! False Flags, Russians being good guys like Yuri, Genetic Bomb in AW and so forth... the true spirit of CoD lives on!

Titanfall I hold dear also very much. A good game in concept but ow so very flawed and the cards... the cards where despicable.

You also know about hackers. BO2 which had terrible gunplay (SMG dominance and myself playing with the SWAT because its my rifle...) was relatively hacker free!

When I write "we let it die" I do not refer to only us the gamers, but to the whole community and that includes the creators.

Now I still wait for a Return to castle Finkelstein!

That image is a real roman Scutum! The swastika has a 12'000 year old legacy of uniting mankind due to it standing for the arms of the galaxy! The sun wheel! Which we used to see when we looked to the stars!!!

I am OrangeNero, maybe you want to educate yourself on my works now. I have a legacy too spanning back to 2009.

Command Conquer Amen

I hope that I got that right!

I too played that and had a lot of hours enjoying it. I will indeed educate myself on a fellow Creator. Thanks for that heads up!!

I am a mere shadow of my former self... glorious where the days of yore... my remnants... if you have questions I will answer gladly. Also I am a historian and intelligence soldier and a nerd.

Not to defend the new user, or whomever decided not to continue doing the map editor, but I'll state my case here:

The tools were at best, weak. It was only barebones as they can. That's my first impression of the map editor. When I interacted with the map editor, I had a lot of questions and ideas going through, but tinkering with it felt like - it had to be designed a certain way, and not like freedom like with Battlefield Portal. By the way, if you want a map editor today, Battlefield 6. Go get it.

Secondly, the map editor doesn't go into the public playlist. Oh no. It goes into their own playlist. You have to look for these maps. You have to make it popular enough to want to go there. It's true with Mario Maker, but Mario Maker is its own game, and not segmented into different parts of the game.

On top of this, Call of Duty is mainly a casual game, so when you say "you let the editor die," you're not making sense, because they will do whatever they want to do. If they want to go into "quick play" they will go into quick play. If they want to make this map, they will do it.

And for the final and last point I will make on this: Little Big Planet, Dreams, and I dare say today's Battlefield 6 Portal got copyright takedowns or DMCA takedowns because these idiots that make maps - they made maps that are clearly trademark infringement - those kids made those maps to be playable on said game. For example, if you did a Mega Man style map in Dreams, Capcom doesn't give a shit. They want you to have fun. But if you make a Mario map in Dreams? DMCA.

So, for as much as you rail players for not using the map editor, you are ignoring what companies have done to destroy the idea. Fortnite went through this, too.

There is Always a way, even the "bay". Freedom will prevail!

If someone Made dusk2 in CoD then Out of Love. Unless he has a patreon.

In which Case he or she has probably Money Problems and maybe a starving Kid. So show some humanity please.
