Hi there,
I‘m completely new in the COD community. I never played COD before, only Battlefield. But since the new 2042 is such a trash (sadly I bought it..), I just decided to give COD a try. And I have to admit, I love it!
I‘m still learning and trying to understand how it works.
Question 1: One thing I‘m not sure about is the extras. If I select three of these extras, do I have to activate them in the game or are they just activated automatically from the beginning? Do I have to do something to get the benefit of these extras?
Question 2: How do I get to the field upgrades during the game? Do I get notified when a field upgrade is available?
Sorry for these noon questions and thanks for your help

I reckon the extras you are talking about is the killstreak. This is an extra bonus you get for getting kills without dying.
If you look above the icons for them, you'll see numbers. That mean how many kills you have to do without dying to get them.
Let's say you choose Spy plane, Glide Bomb and Guard Dog. This would mean you need 4 kills to get the spy plane ( and it will pop up on your screen telling you the key or controller button to press to use it ). If you continue to get kill and not dying, you need to get 5 kills for your glide bomb, and 6 kills for your dog. They reset if you die, and you have to start over again.

The field upgrade is something that is based on time played. It's based on a "recharge" timer, that runs passively. This mean it doesn't take to long in the game for you to get Dead Silence, but it does take longer time to get Armor Plates. It's not about killing enemies or fulfilling objectives, it's just runs in the background.
You will get notified on your screen when your field upgrade is ready, and what keyboard key/controller button to use to activate it.

Thank very much for the quick reply. It helped me a lot :)
Sorry I‘m playing the game in German, so it‘s called „Extras“. But I just realized that „Extras“ is „Perks“ in your game. So I didn’t mean the killstreak. Can you also explain me perks?

Thanks anyway for explaining me killstreak, another thing I learnt =)

Perks are a an additional set of helpful things for you. You can first off choose different ways these can help you. You have three "categories" to use. In these three rows you can choose one from each that you think will benefit you the most in your playstyle. For example, in the first row, if you choose "ninja" you will move more silently, and as a bonus, people who are using tracker ( from the second row ) can't track you for so long. You should read every perk to find what suits your playstyle, and maybe for what loadout you have. If you are a sniper, there's no need to use Ninja or Dauntless, as you will mostly be proned somewhere sniping. Cold Blood or Foirtified would be good. On the other hand, run and gun agressive playstyle can benefit from most of them.
On the second row, you will find helpful perks for tracking other players, seeing them faster, outlining them when they are supressed and so on...
Third row is where you can gain benefits to your loadout .. that be carrying 2 main weapons, scavenging ammo from fallen players, be able to move faster and such.

I would advice you to read up on the perks from each row, and play around with what suits you the best, according to your playstyle...

Also .. it depends heavily ( in my opinion ) on if you are playing softcore or hardcore. I never found that even when I have my loadout set up the way I like them, they don't work for both hardcore and softcore, but then again, I'm a hardcore player only. I never understood why someone need to shoot 15 bullets inn an enemy before they die :D
