Hello everyone,
Not sure if i am posting in the right forum location, but I have been playing Call of Duty World At War for some time now ( I'm not that good, but i think i am alright at it, not a noob but I'm sure ill be proved wrong eventually ), and I'm keen to try my hand at online play. I was wondering if anybody would be able to help me better understand the proper steps to go through to be able to play online against other people. I'm new to the concept of online play, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks..

Firstly thanks for a fast reply...

I am such a tool for not reading that guide first, ahahaha...

I think the main aspect i don't quite understand is clans and servers. How do clans work/operate? Do you need to be a member of a clan to be able to play online? And are you able to just start up Call of Duty WaW, find a game, then just join a game that suits you?

Okay, don't worry about servers: On the PC side, the IW engine finds the best compatible server for your connection/specs. The only ones that actually need a server is the hardcore gamer that really hates to be on the beck and neck of a server admin - Typically servers are best served with a clan or a group of friends. As for consoles, there isn't "servers," in the traditional sense like the PC servers where you would manually have to find a server that suits YOU. Instead, the IW engines find the game for you and automatically drops you in a lobby. So, yes, you're right.

As for clans, you don't really need to worry about it. You do not have to be in a clan to play WAW, Black Ops or MW2 .....any of the call of duty games online. There are some games like Warhawk, and some Electronic Arts games that require this. Those clan tags you see are changeable and as often as the player desires.

Have fun! :)

Thank you Carlos, your replies are very informative. Would be able to recommend the best action to take to start out online? If I'm going in circles, just let me know :P
