no game will now run

hi all

Earlier today I was playing the season 3 Modern Warfare taster, closed the game after a bit of a play, then after a bit went to open the game. Instead of running fine, as it had earlier, I had error messages and nothing would run. So right now, if I try to play BlackOps or Modern Warfare, I get the first message you see attached. The game then asks if I want to run in safe more or not. If I select either option, I get the 2nd message you see below.
Nothing has changed with my PC in that interval ! No driver changes, nothing. But now the game won't run at all. Please can someone advise what is happening here ? Activision support is useless, no help at all.

The main problem that I can see and have heard many complaints about is the last line in your second image. "game_ship.exe"

This happened more in the early days of release but appears to have reared its ugly head once again since the Season 3 release.

There are no "one shot" resolutions for this. The best advice that I can give is that you Google game_ship.exe and you will find lots of ways to try to fix it. Some work and some dont and sometimes the issue will return again. Activision is going to have to figure it out like I think they did before but I doubt that they will ever own up to what is going on. Hot fixes and small updates will be seen over the next while Im sure that will most likely get rid of this once again.

The only thing that I would suggest is to once again take the tour through you PC and check for all updates to your version of windows, directX and so on. Pain in the ass I know but there could be something as I sometimes find my own PC not having all of the latest of various things.

Hi bassunit ,

Here's couple of things worth trying ... since no games will run now it's possible windows may have been messed up somehow as well as the game.

- Use the "scan and repair" function in BattleNet or Steam , that should repair any damaged or corrupted game files.

- Next do a "Windows Scan and Repair" Open the Command Prompt or Windows Powershell select "Run as Administrator" when opening , type in the following .. sfc /scannow .. this will scan and repair windows.

Wait for the scan to finish ( do not close the cmd prompt window until it's finished ) at the end it will tell you if there were any windows files that were corrupted or not and also if it was able to repair them or not.

Another thing to add here is completely uninstall your current video driver and then reinstall clean with new drivers. I always do a complete clean install when updating video drivers. (nvidia)

I uninstalled then re-installed latest AMD drivers... problem solved !!
