pc shut down issue

when i shut down pc lights and fans keep running sometimes. dont think its mobo cause i run nzxt aio and fans and have them connected to mobo except aio.

I’ve run into this a few times, and it usually isn’t the motherboard failing. If the PC is shut down but some lights and fans keep running occasionally, it’s often related to power settings or how certain devices stay powered after shutdown.

Since your NZXT AIO and fans are connected to the motherboard, I’d first check a few things:
  • Disable Fast Startup in Windows. This causes a hybrid shutdown and can sometimes leave hardware partially powered.
  • Look in the BIOS for settings like ERP Ready, USB power in shutdown, or RGB standby power and try enabling ERP.
  • If you use NZXT CAM, make sure there aren’t any options keeping RGB or cooling devices active after shutdown.
  • Also check if the AIO pump or fan hub has a SATA power connection directly from the PSU, as that can keep parts powered independently of the motherboard.

The fact that it only happens sometimes makes me think it’s more of a software/BIOS power state issue rather than a bad motherboard. I had a similar issue on one system, and turning off Fast Startup completely fixed it. Updating the motherboard BIOS can also help if it’s an older version.

thanks for info i disabled somthing with startup and updated bios. cant remember i what i disabled but its shutting down now

i also got rid of norton anti virus which it seems to boot faster. the b650 tomahawk has a reputation of slower boot time but mines doing ok
