Warzone Monolithic Suppressor on Snipers

There seems to be this agreed upon notion among Warzone players that the monolithic suppressor is the best silencer for basically every gun. including snipers. However, while I understand the need for increase damage range on ARs/SMGs/etc, I actually started wondering: Why is the monolithic suppressor supposed to be the best suppressor for snipers in Warzone?

The monolithic suppressor has the following pros/cons:
+ Sound supression
+ Damage range
- Aim down sight speed
- Aim walk steadiness

In the case of the AX and HDR in particular though, does damage range actually matter? Headshots are a one shot kill at every range anyway, and if I'm not mistaken, body shots (assuming full armor) are always three shot kill. Furthermore, the monolithic decreases ADS, which is generally viewed as a very important stat. While I definitely understand the benefits of bullet velocity for snipers (hence why everybody uses the longest barrel), I'm starting to question why the monolithic is being used...

As an alternative, why do people not use the lightweight suppressor? This suppressor does not impact ADS, and while it does theoretically hurt "damage range", again, is damage range actually an important stat for the AX and HDR? Does it hurt the damage range so much that headshots are not always one shot kill anymore or it requires 4+ body shots?

TL;DR: Monolithic suppressor has some very clear advantages with ARs and SMGs, but on closer examination, I'm actually not sure I see the benefit for AX and HDR. Maybe somebody can help explain to me :)

Thing is Monolithic Suppressors on Snipers is deadly. Especially if you have two best snipers in the game, like the AX, and the HDR. that you mentioned. And if you use M4 as a sniper scope, you can use it as a sniper and destroy opponents, and win games. That is the beauty of Gunsmith.

Heyyy somebody else who actually pays attention!!

Everything you say is true. The 50cals are 1 HTK headshots from any range, and they are both 3 HTK body shots from any range, against full 250hp opponents. The only range difference for these is on an opponent with no armor (100hp) you can get a 1 HTK stomach shot from <75m while required 2 from >75m, and the same goes for 200hp and 2-3 stomach shots at </>75m. So any attachment with a range bonus or penalty will only affect these 2 specific situations and nothing else. The ~7.5% range boost from the Monolithic doesn't do anything for your HTK against full 250hp except lower your ADS. The Tactical lowers your ADS as well, while the Lightweight lowers your range instead, so for Warzone the Lightweight is the way to go.

The only possible issue with the Lightweight is maybe an unmentioned bullet velocity nerf that IW doesn't mention in the description (like some of the unmentioned range nerfs for short barrels). I just tested this by finding one of the longest sightlines I could find in MP and seeing if I could distinguish any extra drop with the Lightweight vs the Mono at that range - I could not.

Coincidentally, I was also doing some research into the EBR and it has a similar result. Pretty much a 2 HTK headshot from any range and a 5 HTK body shot no matter the range, so range attachements don't have any affect. Again though, the bullet velocity buffs/nerfs with the various barrels will absolutely have an effect on how easy the weapon is to use with bullet drop, but as far as I can tell velocity is not affected by suppressors.

Lightweight FTW.

As said above. An increase in damage range (usually) means an increase in bullet velocity too.
I favour the ax50 over the hdr, so for me - mono all day. If I used the hdr, I'd certainly consider the lightweight sup.

So it isn't mentioned in-game, but after some google research I did manage to find a couple people doing research that showed where suppressors were affecting bullet velocity. So you are correct in your thinking that you could maybe get away with a Lightweight on the HDR but not so much on the AX-50 or Kar.

It would be nice if IW could actually you know put out notes and graphics that properly detail what the attachments do.
