lol i fixated with fps and i like seeing the gpu performance % up.
I chose it because its a sneak peek into how his videos are. He does a lot of computer builds, and especially how RAM is done. Sometimes he tells you to input RAM in a pattern or in twos, or fill up all slots.
As long as you know what you're doing, like keeping the computer insulated and cool. Only overclock when necessary according to bitwit.

Hey @freakdaddy64 I spotted your message regarding the mobo on my Status, but can't find it now that I am trying to reply to you, so I thought I would reply here as this is your thread.
For the benefit of others that haven't seen the post, I was asked if it would be worth upgrading the MSi B450 Tomahawk Max mobo to this Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming mobo as this has now been reduced in price by 17%?
So, short answer is yes, but longer answer is yes, but....
So, you have just bought a new CPU and have an old CPU left over, if you haven't already sold it, you're planning on upgrading your RAM to 3600MT/s modules, so you will have RAM left over.
Upgrading your mobo will then mean you have 3 parts that could go into making another PC, and if memory serves, you have a nephew that is in need of a new PC, so you would be well on the way to building it with those parts.
I would not expect to see a major difference in performance from the new mobo, it does however support a single 3-pin ARGB header. If I am not mistaken, there is a version of that mobo with 2x 3-pin ARGB headers which I think would be better, but either way, that or those headers would allow you to take control of your RGB fan lighting. Given the number of fans you have in your build, I think 2 headers would ensure you can feed enough power to all of the lighting LEDs without issue.

it was showing 144 bucks and now back up to 178 and if i was to change motherboards i would have 2nd pc minus graphics card. i have a nzxt 510 case a ryzen r5 3600 16 gigs of gskill ripjaw ram the msi mobo and the coolermaster blk 212 air cooler and i could use the seagate 1 tb hybrid drive. i would like to know if running the rgb off motherboard would be better then using nzxt cam like i am now and the cam shows liquid temp. just more i can look into.

It must have been a flash sale in that case. I was hoping it was a sign that prices would be coming down.
GPU prices are starting to come down, nobody really knows how long it will be before we see new prices return to MSRP though, but you use the components you have to upgrade an existing older build if your nephew has 1.

How much is the Pro Carbon?
I would wait until I could buy a GPU first, if I were you.
You were thinking about getting 32GB RAM at one point, why not add the new RAM to your rig, set it or leave it set to run at 3200MT/s just so you can see if there's enough of a boost to justify 32GB at 3600MT/s.
I don't think there will be an increase, play a bot match on your favourite map, add the RAM and try again on the same map. Now if you see a frame increase that's than a 3% margin of error then you might consider consider buying a second pack of RAM.

Well I got the 16 gigs being delivered tomorrow and that'll probably be enough I'm not in a big hurry to do anything after that done enough

Well, if it were me, I would be testing and comparing 16GB vs 32GB running at 3200 speeds, because it is there, it's an opportunity to learn and understand how your PC works. Common wisdom has always been more sticks = lower performance, so 2x16GB is better than 4x8GB, but this has been proved wrong in various videos by Gamers Nexus, Jayz2Cents, and Hardware Unboxed.
You can test your PC at 3200MT/s in 16GB and 32GB configurations and then at 3600MT/s with 16GB to see what improvement you have when you go from 16GB at 3200MT/s and with the 16GB vs 32GB you would be able to infer an approximate performance gain if you decided to upgrade to 32GB of 3600MT/s later.
I am not suggesting you buy more RAM, I am just suggesting you look at what difference it makes and understand it as you might need to consider it in the future should your needs change. Check out this video to see more about it.
Just as I did with the RAM, I am going to refer you to Hardware Unboxed, they recently put out a video where they compared entry level mobos to top tier models using the same chipset and their findings were that they saw significant differences in Intel mobos but not in AMD mobos. You should not expect to see a big improvement in performance by moving from your $100 mobo to a $220 mobo.

well i installed ram and rgb is great but i notice if i turn on xmp the ram goes to 3200 when i check in task manager but if i leave it off it runs 3600. but the 2 profiles show 3600 so im confused there but i guess as long as i got the 3600 im good.

The RAM adds a decent splash of colour in that top corner of you mobo, it will probably take a while for you decide how you finally like it, but the rig is looking good, well done.
As for the timings, you should be able to get to 3600 with XMP, if it is auto configuring to 3600 then that's good, manually setting RAM speeds is a lot more complicated than selecting 3600, there are timing, latency, and even power settings to configure, so unless you know what you're doing, leave to the tools that do it automatically for you.
