RTX Musings..

I am working til 5 so I'll give ya the whole shabang when I get home..

What I can say is I have Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.20 GHz with 24.0 GB RAM...

Researching it, I have to say I was very surprised that my core i7 is so low end, comparatively speaking...

This link here is especially disheartening... :(

i guess it you got a 3070 i thought it was a 3060. anyways you can watch videos on youtube of comparisons and you will know what to expect. also upgrading cpu will help push graphics card. i went from a r5 3600 to a 5600x and saw 10 to 15 percent improvement.

The 3930k was an awesome CPU with 6 cores and 12 threads when it launched in November 2011. It has aged well, but it will struggle to keep up with younger processors with lower core counts due to improvements in IPC.

I wouldn't expect the same levels of performance from a new GPU on an i7 3930k as I would from my Ryzen 5 3600, but I would expect to be between 10-15% away from that, so that's still over 100fps, and you're topping out at 80.

Have you checked that you're PCI-E speeds are set correctly in the BIOS? Try manually setting this to PCI-E 3.0 if your mobo supports it.

While you're looking at the BIOS, check to see if you have the latest version and update if required.

Check all of your BIOS settings to see if there is anything you can tweak or push for more FPS.

Have you considered overclocking? The plus side is you might be able to squeeze more frames out of your setup, the downside is you might end up with stability issues that would lead to crashing or system lockups.

I have never been a fan of over-clocking because I really don't have the time to delve into and learn all the ins and outs..

And, being an older MB, the detailed info is difficult to locate..

But I will check those BIOS settings..

Thanx again..

I was thinking maybe I could upgrade my CPU and stick with my ASUS P9X79 Pro MB..

That's the CPU compatibly list for my MB...

Would any of those offer a substantial increase in performance..

I have to say, I am a tad bummed about how this is going.. As things are now, I really can't justify spending $2700 over the next 15 months for the very slight increase in performance I am seeing..

Tried playing in CAMPAIGN mode thinking my lack of quality internet may be part of the problem..

FPS is still the same, even in CAMPAIGN mode..

This looks pretty straight forward..

That's my biggest problem with stuff like this is, invariably, the instructions and pics don't follow exactly what I have.. It seems to be mostly guess work...

But the above is, at first glance, identical to what I have.. So I might give it a shot..

my problem with overclocking is you make one wrong click and poof somthing fries. so my theory is if i want a 4.0 cpu ill buy one and not overclock a 3.5.

And the other question is, will it make a substantial difference in my specs..

If it will be a good noticeable boost, I am willing.. But if it's gonna be like a .2% increase?? Doesn't seem worth the effort..

Can you recommend a good free Benchmarking program?? Something simple and basic..

If I do take the plunge into OverClocking, it would be nice to have some good BEFORE/AFTER specs to point at..

i copied this from your previous post and what im seeing is major bottlenecking. you need to upgrade to best cpu you can get for your motherboard. by upgrading you cpu you will get the performance your looking for. the difference in fps loss between the two tells the story.
