Any ideas when they r gonna fix packet loss?. Every game affected. Hit markers 3 or 4 shots on someone then they turn round and kill you. Guns moving all over as u aim.

Is your network/internet connection generally good?

Check your connection on Speedtest.net to get an idea of the health of your connection.

Try and do as much as you can to mitigate server based issues. If you can reduce or eliminate problem areas at your end you should get a better experience when playing.

Connection is not to bad and all other COD games work fine. This is my first experience of packet loss. Is this not a problem Activisions end?

Yes, absolutely it is a problem with the Activision servers, your options are:

  • Wait until Activision gets them fixed
  • Complain bitterly and wait until Activision gets them fixed
  • Take steps to ensure that you're getting the best possible connection at your end so that you do as much as possible to reduce the effects of server issues
  • Check that you have selected the correct region and not a server on the other side of the planet from you
I don't know how big an issue this is, I don't play Vanguard, I tried it during the free week and was not as impressed with it as others have been, but I can see that when I look at the Vanguard page on these forums, 3 out of 20 posts are about network issues, which means that the rest were relating to other issues.

Members here such as @freakdaddy64 have been having a blast with Vanguard, if you take a look at this video that he uploaded recently you will see that there is no apparent connection issues while he plays.

Ya Rosy im having the same issue only i think mine mite be werse then yours, I have enmys right in front of me an I see nothing till they shot me then there I mean Im having like anywere from 1 sec delay to 3 sec, it is so bloody frustrating im ready to delete the peice of garbage game....I have a decent machine an 500 mbs internet speed yes i tested it..is that speed to slow for this game?

Your internet connection relies on more than 1 single metric, your connection speed is only part of the equation.

You can have good condition speed and bad ping, that would lead to a poor experience when playing. Ping relates to the time it takes for your data packets to travel to and from the server, high ping might be due to bad packet routing, high internet traffic levies, or issues with your home network.

Then you also have jitter which is more about how consistent your connection is, again this could be server related, an issue with connections between your home and ISP or even something that is down to your home network.

Traffic is the last factor that I can think of right now. Just like in the real world, when you take a supercar that's capable of 200+ mph on to the road at rush hour, your internet packets can also get stuck in s lane where traffic is only moving at 3mph.

If you usually play during peak internet usage times then try playing a few hours earlier or later to see if you get the same issues.

you are so true an i get that...however i will ask this question did they change severs sence pacific map came out because my ping on the verdask map or however you spell it was like the high end was like 37 an got down as low as 28 durning the day, this new map i had a ping of 91 last nite an that my friend leads to alot of lossed games, I had 100's of win in verdask but this new map I mite have 1 or 2 sence it came out...how do you like those differences, im not having much if ya know what i mean.

I know that @AntiCheatAgent94 likes to play Warzone, I also know that he doesn't have the most amazing internet service, it would great to hear from him about whether he has experienced any issues.

I don't know how widespread this really is, but it does feel like I am seeing posts about the server issues every time I look in on these forums.

I HAVE been noting some issues of late.. Not all the time, but enough times to be noticeable

This gives you an idea on how bad my 'Net Connection is...

The fact that I can even PLAY Warzone is a source of never ending amazement to me..

Ironic that you should bring me into this now @KeyboardDemon ...

I just did our taxes and I am getting back enough $$$ that will allow us to pay up front for STARLINK Service!!!

Here is an example of what STARLINK is going to do for me in my area...

StarlinkMBPS.jpg

Can ya believe that!!!???? :D

And, as an added bonus, I will be able to pay off my RTX as well!!! So that will get me out from under $45 a week payments for the next 14 months!!!

Life is good!!!!

I'll be VERY interested in seeing if my 'Net speed issues are contributing to my somewhat better but still somewhat crappy game play...

So, I'll have the Video Card.. I'll have the Fiber Optic-esque speeds... All I'll need is to get my MB/CPU into the 12th Gen arena and life will be perfect.. :D

@AntiCheatAgent94 I thought of you because I know you don't have the best internet connection but have generally had a good gaming experience and I don't recall you complaining about network issues, even if you can only get updates on the game by taking your PC in to work.

For online gaming your ping rate plays a massive role in your gaming experience. 26ms as shown above is amazing, if you run some tests on speedtest.net you will also see your jitter results.

Ping is the average score you get from a series of 5 tests, jitter looks more at the levels of variation between ping rates. It is possible to have good ping and bad jitter.

Check reviews of Starlink in your area as you might get the download speeds you want but could end up with a service that's not suitable for gaming due to high ping or high jitter, this was case during the early startup of the service, I don't know what the case it now.

Your current connection is not great for downloads, but it is fine for gaming where you need to send limited volumes of data and you need to send it quickly without high ping rates delaying traffic.

As you may know by now, I am a firm advocate of the if it is not broke don't fix it mentality, I would not want to see you move from an acceptable service to something that is anything but, so do your research before signing up so you don't get caught out.

Oh it's not just game play.. My wife works from home and she is always losing connection thru her work's VPN and such..

Plus I download a lot of shows and movies and my wife does a lot of NETFLIX/HULU/AMAZON streaming..

We're capped at a base monthly charge of $120 a month.. Each time we go over our allotment we charged another 10 bucks for 50G... So our average bill is around $160 a month..

Even if it doesn't help my game play, Starlink would be a huge asset...

Is Starlink your only viable option?

I just got signed up to 100mbps 2yr contract for £34pcm and then found out just 3 months later that I can a 500mbs connection at £30pcm, so not really happy about that right now.

There are companies in my area offering 900mbs and one company is over 3gbs at £90pcm but that is so expensive.

We're out in the boonies.. The only broadband option beyond conventional satellite is AT&T DSL...

I remember when we first moved out here (Apr 2004) we were limited to dial up... I contracted with a company for a T1 connection.. My goal was to provide fast connections to the area, which was much smaller than it is today.. Unfortunately, I had some issues where I would lose connectivity when the temps dropped below 40 degrees F... Was fine for summer, but here in NE Florida it actually is lower than 40 many times during the winter months..

So that kind of fell thru..

About a year after that, AT&T brought DSL to this area... It was better than dial up (as most things usually are.. :D) but we were still limited to 6Mbps...

This is a Speed Test I ran just now..

DSLtest-2.jpg

I am honestly not well versed in the mechanics of Broadband speeds.. I never really kept up with the technology..

And, as I mentioned, I do get decent game play.. But the quality of the connection is sporadic and not reliable...

I am hoping Starlink will be more reliable...

As far as I have been able to determine, Starlink differs from conventional satellite because conventional satellite 'Net service relies on a couple satellites in a very high earth orbit... 500+ miles above the planet..

Starlink uses a mesh of satellites (the goal is like 42,000) and in a very low earth orbit.. 50 miles above the planet... As such, cloud cover is not the problem for Starlink that it is for Satellite TV/Internet..

The problem isn't so much the distance, it is more to do with the latency that results from the distance.

Latency is what we measure when we look at ping, and high pings will kill your online gaming experience.

See if you can find out if AT&T have plans for upgrading your area in the not too distant future.

Unlikely... at least not for decades.. It's REALLY rural out here...

I'm guessing Comcast will come out here (there is no TV service beyond Satellite TV) before AT&T upgrades their service beyond DSL..

But it's unlikely the area will expand anytime soon to the point where more broadband benefits will be offered..

That's what makes Starlink so exciting.. It's actually DESIGNED for exactly my kind of area...

Right, I would just hate for you to get past your cancellation period to then find you could have got a better deal which is both faster and cheaper. It's not a great feeling, taking from experience.

Yea, my wife and I were talking about that..

What if we get rid of AT&T and Starlink goes tits up in a year or so??

That's what makes life so exciting, eh?? :D

Yea, I hear ya... We're gonna make sure we end our AT&T relationship gracefully w/o any outstanding bill or anything..

That way if Starlink craps out or goes tits up, we at least have a fallback service..

We'll probably have a month or 2 of overlapping service, just to make sure Starlink is going to be good for us..
